The event draws a record number of people to the Sixth Street corridor; features, like musicians playing in a Laundromat and a fashion designer exhibiting in an optometry office, make this event truly unique!

2 Blocks of Art is bookended by well-known Luggage Store gallery at one end, and 1st Amendment gallery (1AM) at the other. Approximately 50 artists exhibit in 25 locations – all within 2 blocks!

CCA MFA Show - May 12th - May 22nd
Join me in San Francisco, to celebrate at CCA's MFA Show. The show opens Thursday May 12th from 6pm til 9pm and continues daily until May 22nd.

Gestalt Landscape # 28, is my site-specific installation where porcelain catchments teeter on masonry lines. The immersive space is an experiential walk through real, imposed or imagined boundaries affected by notions of risk, safety and cognitive dissonance. As the viewer moves through the environment, it tempts kinesthetic interpretations of beauty, tension and vulnerability.

Inner Outer Dialogues_Creativity Heals

Project Goal:
Conduct a series of co-developed group workshops where the process of working in clay and accessing creativity can be used as a springboard for healing. A seven-week commitment, the workshop series for at risk youth will focus on making facemasks or boxes to explore their sub-conscious thoughts. Through creative activities done in a group setting, participant will create a collage, improv the story they see in the collage and create in clay a 3 D sculpture to embody that story. The making of a 3D ceramic sculpture will foster the courage to trust in our inner spirit and learn to initiate self-expression.

Who:
Visual artist, Carol Koffel, (www.newliefdesigncenter.com) in collaboration with University of San Francisco’s Center for Child and Family Development (www.usfca.edu) will hold a pilot series of workshops with at risk youth. The workshops will be held at USF’s clinic located in San Francisco. Workshop participants will come from the current client base. Workshop will be held in the months of June and July.

What:
The inspiration for the workshops comes from a series of porcelain breast prints called “Being Alive: Women of Light”. When women from all walks of life see them, they’ve openly shared deeply personal experiences of becoming or being a woman. The discovery of how these porcelain breast prints, freed others to share sometimes never disclosed stories motivated me to launch Inner_Outer Dialogues Creativity Heals.

Ceramics in Modern Architecture

Today an unprecedented number of new technologies and materials are changing the face of modern architecture. I propose a topical discussion that invites an Interdisciplinary exploration to push ceramics through the lens of modern material sciences. We invite art, craft and design to move ceramic beyond it's traditional use in buildings as a brick or tile.

Kick off discussion with a brief presentation from 13 week residency @ .ekwc (European Ceramic Work Center) and student projects from inter-disciplinary courses taught at CCA. (California College of Art)
